Faculty Advising Professional Development Opportunity

Taking Advising to New Heights

As part of the University's efforts to enhance academic advising, Advising and Academic Enhancement will fund travel, conference, hotel, and meal costs for (up to) 3 faculty members to attend the National Conference on Academic Advising in Chicago– “Taking Advising to New Heights.”

The conference is scheduled for October 1-4 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The expectation is that the faculty members bring back ideas to affect advising change in their individual departments.

Conference fees also include a one-year membership to the National Academic Advising Association. Information on NACADA can also be located at the same web address as above.

Conference Highlights :



  • The conference runs from Wednesday, October 1, 7:00 p.m. - Saturday, October 4, 12:00 p.m.
  • A variety of optional pre-conference workshops will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Additional fees apply.
  • There are opportunities for formal and informal networking with 2,500 advising colleagues.
  • Professional development for advisors is available through more than 350 workshops, individual concurrent and panel sessions and poster presentations on relevant topics.
  • Presentations are offered in a range of theoretical, practical and interactive formats. Commission and Interest Group meetings bring together colleagues with similar concerns in over 35 specific advising areas.
  • Region meetings introduce you to advisors from institutions in your geographic area.
